Manual Lathe/Grinding Operator (MB) & (RB)

SUMMARY:  As a Manual Lathe Operator at Continental Diamond Tool, you will play a key role in the manual machining and grinding of our products to ensure that they meet the highest standards. This will include tasks such as turning, milling, drilling, grinding and polishing by hand. It is important to note that this process is manual, not computerized, underlining the significance of your craftsmanship. All will be required to adhere to quality and safety standards, maintain equipment and tooling, and keep accurate records. Your dedication to your craft will be instrumental in maintaining the superior quality and excellence of our metal bond products.

DUTIES:

  • Required to read, understand, and follow work orders and engineering drawings.

  • Ability to inspect the product using scales, calipers, micrometers, bore gages, comparators and other equipment as needed.

  • Required to operate manual lathes/mills and various grinding machines. 

  • Ability to select the proper work holding and tooling needed for optimum productivity

  • Ability to use scales, calipers, micrometers, and similar measuring equipment

  • Ability to recognize, trouble shoot and correct noncompliant product

  • Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations, and properly using and maintaining PPE

  • Required to meet standard productivity requirements

  • Perform other duties as required

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Safely run and use required equipment

  • Correctly and accurately inspect product using required measuring equipment

  • Required to read and understand work instructions, paperwork, and drawings

  • High school diploma or GED

PREFERRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

  • Good hand eye coordination

  • Strong mechanical aptitude

  • 3+ years of related experience

  • High level of interpersonal communication skills

  • Good computer skills; excel, word, ERP systems

  • Excellent attention to detail and have sound judgement

PHYSCIAL DEMANDS:

  • Stand for long periods of time

  • Seldom required to stoop, kneel, or crouch

  • Regularly lift and move up to 50lbs
