CNC Machinist

SUMMARY:  Produce machined parts by fixturing, setting up, and operating CNC machines; maintaining quality and safety standards; maintaining equipment and tooling; keeping records. 

HOURS: 1st shift hours are Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.

JOB DUTIES:

  • Learn to read, understand and follow work orders and blueprints/engineering drawing.

  • Learn to measure and verify settings and parts by measuring positions, first-run parts and sample work pieces utilizing: comparator, calipers, micrometers, bore gages, height gages, indicators and other measuring equipment as needed.

  • Learn to operate a specific CNC machine in the department

  • Learn to edit programs/make small adjustments manually/at the controller

  • Selects/Sets up proper work holding for job; Collet, Chuck, or Vise

  • Learn to set up and change tooling

  • Required to meet standard productivity requirements

  • Report time and material in manufacturing systems

  • Perform other duties as required

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Safely run and use required equipment

  • High school diploma or GED

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Strong conceptual skills

  • 1+ years of related experience

  • Operate manual machines (lathe, mill, grinder)

  • Functional and technical skills

  • Excellent verbal communication skills

  • Good computer skills; excel, word, ERP systems

  • Understanding controls and instrumentation

  • Attention to detail and have sound judgment

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Prolonged standing

  • Frequently required to walk

  • Seldom required to stoop, kneel, or crouch

  • Regularly lift and move up to 50lbs

  • Regularly exposed to grease, oils, noise, and coolant.
