Design/Manufacturing Engineer

SUMMARY:  As a Design/Manufacturing Engineer at Continental Diamond Tool, you will play a central role in shaping our products and processes. Your responsibilities include designing, estimating costs, and creating manufacturing prints, tooling, overlays, and electronic files. You will also engage directly with our valued customers to discuss design concepts and project details. Your role involves processing job routers and manufacturing paperwork while collaborating with our production team to enhance processes, quality, and resolve any challenges. HOURS: Office hours are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

DUTIES:

  • Required to produce manufacturing/customer drawings, and overlays utilizing SolidWorks software

  • Required to produce job routers and all required paperwork/documentation for manufacturing

  • Required to work with and communicate directly to customer to develop designs

  • Must be familiar with the entire manufacturing process, general knowledge of other product lines

  • Ability to use scales, calipers, micrometers, and similar measuring equipment

  • Able to develop product costing for quoting of product

  • Able to communicate/work with manufacturing on process improvements and problem solving

  • Manage manufacturing/capital expense projects, process development and implementation

  • Good PC skills and experience of Microsoft Office and CAD

  • Occasional/potential travel to interact with customers/vendors

  • Report time and material in manufacturing systems

  • Perform other duties as required

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 2-year technical degree or equivalent work experience

  • Correctly and accurately draw required customer and manufacturing prints

  • Must be proficient in SolidWorks and/or similar CAD software

PREFERRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:

  • Strong mechanical and conceptual aptitude

  • 3+ years of related experience

  • Functional and technical skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Good computer skills; excel, word, ERP systems

  • Experience with CAM packages; MasterCam

  • Attention to detail and have sound judgment

  • Interaction with customers

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Prolonged sitting (standing desk optional)

  • Vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, etc.
