SUMMARY: Responsible for the final machining and/or grinding of the product. This will include tasks such as turning, milling, drilling, grinding and polishing. Also required to epoxy mount product to quills and cores as needed. All will be required to maintain quality and safety standards, maintaining equipment and tooling, keeping records.
HOURS: 1st shift hours are Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
DUTIES:
Required to read, understand, and follow work orders and engineering drawing.
Ability to inspect the product using scales, calipers, micrometers, bore gages, comparators and other equipment as needed.
Required to operate manual lathes/mills and various grinding machines
Ability to select the proper work holding and tooling needed for optimum productivity
Able to clean flash off of blades and DW product
Ability to sandblast smaller, high volume product (Marquip)
Able to machine and face off basic wheels to size
Able to remove the aluminum ring from the diamond section
Able to finish grind DW product requiring a tolerance of ±.020 or larger
Able to finish grind 1A1 wheels to customer requirements
Able to properly clean and epoxy mount hand hones
Responsible for the cleaning and preparation of recoat hubs
Maintains safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations, and properly using and maintaining PPE
Report time and material in manufacturing systems
Perform other duties as required
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Safely run and use required equipment
Correctly and accurately inspect product using required measuring equipment
Required to read and understand work instructions, paperwork, and drawings
High school diploma or GED
PREFERRED SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE:
Good hand eye coordination
Strong mechanical aptitude
3+ years of related experience
High level of interpersonal communication skills
Good computer skills; excel, word, ERP systems
Excellent attention to detail and have sound judgment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Use of hands, fingers, and arms to grasp, feel and reach
Frequently required to walk
Stand for long periods of time
Seldom required to stoop, kneel, or crouch
Regularly lift and move up to 50lbs
Vision abilities required include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus
Potential for long shifts and/or weekends
