We’re adding shifts to increase capacity and grow our plating team in New Haven. It’s creating new opportunities for people to join CDT, while giving current employees room to advance and take on greater responsibility. We’re currently hiring both experienced and entry-level Plating Technicians across first, third, and weekend shifts. GRADE 1 | ENTRY-LEVEL
New to plating or manufacturing?
We can teach you the process. We’re looking for dependable people who are comfortable with hands-on work, following instructions, paying attention to detail, and working safely as part of a team. If you’re willing to learn, this is an opportunity to build a specialized manufacturing skill.
GRADE 2 | EXPERIENCED
Already have manufacturing experience?
Experience with production equipment, process controls, troubleshooting, or managing multiple jobs give you a great head start at CDT. If you’ve worked in electroplating, anodizing, metal finishing, coatings, or another chemical-process environment, even better.
Grade 2 technicians take on more advanced responsibilities, like planning plating cycles and training newer technicians.

Full-time with benefits. Same 4 days each week.

We’ve been manufacturing diamond and cBN grinding wheels in New Haven since 1973 and specializing in plated superabrasive tools since 1984. Today, we have over 500 plating tanks with space to add 200+ more at our locations in the USA and Europe.

No. CDT hires entry-level Grade 1 Plating Technicians who can learn the plating process on the job. We also hire experienced Grade 2 technicians with previous plating or manufacturing experience.

CDT hires Plating Technicians for first, third, and weekend shifts in New Haven, Indiana. First shift runs Monday through Friday, 6 a.m. to 2 p.m. Third shift runs Monday through Thursday, 8 p.m. to 6 a.m. Weekend shifts are Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 3 p.m. to 3 a.m. Weekend shifts work 36 hours, but they get paid for 40 and qualify for full-time benefits. Weekenders must train on first shift for approximately 30 days.

Grade 1 is our entry-level Plating Technician position and focuses on learning and performing the core plating process. Grade 2 technicians take on more advanced responsibilities, including planning plating cycles, managing multiple orders, troubleshooting process issues, and helping train less-experienced technicians.

One or more years of plating or manufacturing experience is preferred for Grade 2 positions. Experience in electroplating, anodizing, metal finishing, coatings, chemical-process manufacturing, production equipment, or process controls may transfer well to this role.

Plating Technicians help process superabrasive tools through our plating operation. Depending on experience level, the work can include setting up products for plating, working with plating baths, recovering grit, maintaining tanks and tooling, keeping production records, and planning plating cycles.

Plating Technicians work in CDT’s climate-controlled manufacturing facility in New Haven, Indiana. It’s an active, hands-on environment where you’ll work with plating tanks, equipment and materials that can include nickel plating solutions, acids, mineral spirits, coolant, and maskants. Safety is a big part of the job, including proper chemical handling and required PPE. The position also involves frequent walking, handling parts and equipment, and regularly lifting up to 50 pounds.
