SUMMARY: Continental Diamond Tool Ltd. in Kinmel Bay is now hiring a Junior/Assistant Design Engineer. The successful candidate will join our experienced engineering department, working both collaboratively within a close-knit team and independently. You will be responsible for creating job quotes for our global customer base with a 24-hour turnaround target and assisting our design engineers in their tasks. Full training will be provided to support your development and ensure your success in this role. For the right candidate, there will also be opportunities to progress to a full engineering position as you grow with the company.

Monday to Friday
JOB DUTIES:
Utilize SolidWorks CAD Software:
Design and develop new products, components, and systems using SolidWorks.
Create 3D models, assemblies, and detailed drawings
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure designs meet customer requirements, quality standards, and project timelines.
Feasibility Studies and Optimization:
Conduct feasibility studies and analysis to optimize product designs and manufacturing processes.
Evaluate design alternatives, considering factors such as cost, manufacturability, and performance.
Engineering Documentation:
Develop and document detailed engineering specifications, routers, bills of materials (BOMs), and work instructions
Maintain accurate records of design changes and revisions.
Support Technical and Implementation:
Provide technical support and guidance to manufacturing and production teams during design implementation
Ensure successful integration of designs into production processes.
Process Improvement:
Identify opportunities for process improvement to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve product quality.
Implement changes based on data-driven analysis and continuous improvement principles.
Collaboration and Innovation:
Participate in design reviews, brainstorming sessions, and problem-solving activities.
Drive innovation by proposing creative solutions and contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
REQUIRED SKILLS:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD software, including features such as surfacing and assemblies.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Experience in project management, including planning, scheduling, and progress tracking.
Knowledge of industry standards, regulations, and best practices related to design and manufacturing processes.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
This is an entry level position.
