SUMMARY:  As a Grade 2 Soldering/Masking Technician at Continental Diamond Tool, you will perform advanced preparation, cleaning, and masking of products prior to plating, including complex tooling and non‑geometric components. This role requires strong technical accuracy, the ability to interpret detailed engineering documentation, and proficiency with a wide range of equipment. The technician ensures all masking work meets CDT’s quality, safety, and production standards while maintaining accurate documentation and supporting continuous improvement efforts.

HOURS: 3rd Shift, Monday - Thursday 8:00pm - 6:00 am. $2.00 Shift premium

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Interpret and apply work orders, engineering drawings, and masking specifications with minimal supervision

  • Prepare, fixture, and process products through all stages of the masking workflow, including complex or specialty tooling

  • Inspect tooling and fixtures for flaws, wear, or damage before and after masking; escalate issues as needed

  • Apply masking materials (paint/stop‑off, vinyl tape, masking film) with precision and consistency

  • Label tooling with required identifiers including company name, mesh size, abrasive type, special notes, and rush status

  • Perform dimensional checks using scales, calipers, micrometers, and other inspection tools

  • Operate equipment such as speed lathes, polishers, belt sanders, sandblasters, buffing/grinding wheels, and pedestal grinders

  • Use demagnetization devices and verify results

  • Prepare and mask non‑geometric tooling including sawblades, mounted saws, routers, and hole saws

  • Maintain equipment, work areas, and materials in clean, safe, and compliant condition

  • Accurately record time, materials, and process data in manufacturing systems

  • Support continuous improvement, quality initiatives, and cross‑training within the department

  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, or crouching

  • Ability to regularly lift and move up to 50 lbs
